    Directions for Removing Stains from Carpet with Red 1 Stain Remover:

    1. Keep out of reach of children.
    2. Read label directions and cautions before using.
    3. We strongly suggest that you PRACTICE on some carpet scraps to develop the technique before using on a customer’s carpet.
    4. Shake well before using.
    5. Prespray all food-dye stains with Red 1 Stain Remover prior to your cleaning set up.
    6. Allow to dwell until stain turns yellow or disappears. This will usually occur within 4 to 8 minutes.
    7. Rinse the area.
    8. Tenacious stains may require heat to accelerate the reaction.
    9. Perform your cleaning procedures.
    10. Most, if not all, of your stains will be gone depending on dwell time and temperature.
    11. Any stains that remain may require heat activation as follows.
    12. Reapply Red 1.
    13. Cover wet terry cloth towel.
    14. Apply steam heat from an iron or steamer in 15-second increments.
    15. Reapply Red 1 and use fresh section of the towel after each heat application.
    16. When stain is gone or light yellow, extraction rinse spot.
    17. You should not need to exceed 2 treatments.
    18. For natural fibers, dilute Red 1 with equal parts water.
    19. If a heavy spill, use Stain Blotter to prevent wicking.
    20. IMPORTANT: Red 1 MUST be rinsed from carpet after treatment. Always test an inconspicuous area before using.
    21. Caution: Excessive heat can cause color loss.

    Kool-Aid® and Food Coloring Spot & Stain Removal from Carpet

    Kool-Aid and Food Stains from Carpet

    This article describes how to remove stains from Kool-Aid, Food Coloring, Food Dye, Easter Egg Dye, Gatorade®, Powerade®, Sports Drinks, Fruit Drinks, Fruit Punch, Popsicle from Carpets

    To Remove DRY food dyes such as some Easter egg dye powders from carpet:

    1. DO NOT GET WET at first.
    2. THOROUGHLY vacuum up before proceeding with any wet techniques.
    3. Blot with alcohol until no more dye comes up.
    4. Blot with cold water.
    5. Dry blot until no more dye is removed.

    ONLY If on SOLUTION-DYED nylon or olefin:

    1. Clean area by hot water extraction first
    2. A chlorine bleach diluted 1:5 with water
    3. Follow with thorough rinsing and dry blotting. Otherwise, use the following procedures.

    Follow these steps to remove WET food dye stains such as Kool-Aid and fruit punch on nylon:

    1. Extraction clean (preferably with water) the spot ont the carpet to remove all surface contamination.
    2. Blot the spot as dry as possible with a dry white clean towel.
    3. Mix equal parts of Red Relief Solution A and Solution B in a clean container or use the Red Relief Dual Chamber Sprayer Kit.
    4. Apply the mixed solution to the stain liberally to wet all the stained carpet fibers.
    5. Prepare a damp towel and wring out until moderately damp.
    6. Cover the stain with the damp towel.
    7. Apply steam heat to the towel for 1 - 3 minutes, using a steam iron filled with water and set at the lowest steam setting.
    8. DO NOT SET IRON DIRECTLY ON CARPET!
    9. Because of its low melting point, do not use an iron on olefin.
    10. Apply the iron directly over the towel covering the stain. Check the stain once every minute.
    11. When the stain disappears from; the carpet or changes to a light yellow, discontinue heat and remove the iron and the towel.
    12. Be alert for fibers that are not colorfast - if you see carpet color loss, discontinue the heat immediately!
    13. Extraction rinse the treated area to remove any residue and dry thoroughly.
    14. If a heavy spill, use Stain Blotter to prevent wicking.
    15. IMPORTANT: Red Relief is not self-neutralizing and MUST be rinsed from carpet after treatment. Always test an inconspicuous area before using.
    16. Instead of Red Relief, a two-part stain remover, you can also use Pro’s Choice Red 1, a one-part food stain remover.
